BIO
I am a computer scientist in NIST's Manufacturing Systems Integration Division, where I design and implement software systems for product data exchange applications. My technical interests include markup languages, database technology, and Internet computing. My previous experience includes artificial intelligence systems design and prototyping, software development for the building materials industry, and knowledge engineering. I have an M.S. in computer science from the University of Maryland at College Park, where I performed graduate research in diagnostic problem solving, and a B.S. in mathematics from Binghamton University.

CURRENT PROJECTS

STEP Modularization
A project whose purpose is to develop the infrastructural technologies needed to support the modularization of STEP.

XML Representation of EXPRESS Models and Data
Algorithms, standards, and tools for reformulating STEP and other “EXPRESS-driven” data sets as XML (Extensible Markup Language).

Process Specification Language
A neutral representation for manufacturing processes. I am studying the representation of process descriptions using XML. I also wrote a paper on using XML-related methods to modularize PSL.

XSLToolbox
An XSLT (Extensible Style Language Transformation) library that makes it easier for XML applications to talk to one another.
