Abstract:
-
There is a need in the industrial manufacturing community for a
general-purpose model to represent hierarchical process plans with the
power to express concepts such as parallelism, alternatives, and
synchronization. ALPS (A Language for Process Specification) is an
experimental model for such a language under development at the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This paper
presents a series of specific examples to demonstrate the intended
usage of ALPS. In addition, the ALPS model itself has evolved to
version 5. This paper presents ALPS5, and discusses its differences
from earlier versions.
