Number of Flats (conditional)
Number of flats on the tool shank for attaching the shank to a tool holder. Typically called a Weldon flat. [Valid values: 1, 2] It is assumed that a cutter shank will not have more than two flats.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = FLAT.
First Flat Location (conditional)
Distance from the cutting tip to the center of the first flat. The first flat is the closest to the cutting tip if more than one flat exist.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = FLAT.
First Flat Length (conditional)
Length of the first flat on the tool body, measured along the tool axis. The first flat is the closest to the cutting tip if more than one flat exist.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = FLAT.
Second Flat Location (conditional)
Distance from the cutting tip to the center of the second flat. The second flat is the furthest from the cutting tip.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = FLAT and ROUND_SHANK.NUMBER_OF_FLATS = 2.
Second Flat Length (conditional)
Length of the second flat on the tool body, measured along the tool axis. The second flat is the furthest from the cutting tip.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = FLAT and ROUND_SHANK.NUMBER_OF_FLATS = 2.
Tang Length (conditional)
Length of the tang on the drive shank, measured along the tool axis.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = TANG.
Tang Width (conditional)
Thickness of the tang on the drive shank.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = TANG.
Square Size (conditional)
Width of the square on the drive shank.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = SQUARE.
Square Length (conditional)
Length of the squared portion of the drive shank, measured along the tool axis.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = SQUARE.
Thread Diameter (conditional)
The nominal diameter of the thread.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = THREAD.
Thread Pitch (conditional)
The reciprocal of the number of threads per unit length.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = THREAD.
Thread Form (conditional)
Classification of thread profile on the shank. [Examples: UNC, UNF, UNEF, M, etc.].
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = THREAD.
Tenon Diameter (conditional)
Diameter of the tenon portion of the drive shank.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = TENON.
Tenon Length (conditional)
Length of the tenon portion of the drive shank measured along the tool axis, including the fillet between the tenon and the round shank.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = TENON.
Tenon Fillet Radius (conditional)
Radius of the fillet between the tenon and the round shank.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.DRIVE_FEATURE = TENON.
Coolant Collar? (conditional)
Can a coolant collar be attached to the tool shank? [Valid values: Yes, No] Coolant collars are required for through-the-tool-coolant with some older machine tools which do not allow coolant through the spindle. The collar is typically placed into a groove around the cutting tool body and forms a seal for the coolant. Some coolant collars are attached to a flange around the tool body. Newer machine tools allow coolant to flow to the cutting tool through the spindle and do not require the collar.
Attribute only applies where TOOL_BODY.COOLANT_THROUGH_TOOL? = YES.
Collar Channel Length (conditional)
The width of the groove around the shank for attaching a coolant collar, measured along the tool axis. A value of zero indicates that a channel for the coolant collar does not exist.
Attribute only applies where ROUND_SHANK.COOLANT_COLLAR? = YES.
Plug Size (conditional)
Size of the threaded hole in the tool body in which a plug can be inserted. Used with coolant collars to prevent coolant from exiting the shank end of the coolant channel in the tool body.
Attribute only applies where TOOL_BODY.COOLANT_THROUGH_TOOL? = YES.
Shank Flange Diameter (conditional)
Diameter of the enlarged, collar-like portion of the shank. This attribute is used for clearance calculations in tool assemblies. The flange is used as a standard tool preset in production environments.
Attribute only applies for shank drive styles which include a flange.
