Manufacturer Name of the company that manufactures the component (or the component distributor, if applicable).
Manufacturer's Catalog Number Component designation or ordering code used by the manufacturer. This number provides a unique identifier for the component.
Model Designation A name or number designating a specific model or style of the component.
Cutter Assembly Component Material (optional) Description of the material composing the Cutter Assembly Component (manufacturer's designation).
Component Cost The purchase price of the Cutter Assembly Component by the end-user.

Clamp: A clamp is a cutter assembly component used to hold an insert onto a cutting tool body.

Clamp Style Common style designation for the clamp. [Examples: Finger Clamp, Firth Notch Clamp, Positive Rake Clamp, etc.]
Overall Width The width of the clamp measured at its maximum position.
Overall Length The length of the clamp measured at its maximum position.
Overall Height The height of the clamp measured at its maximum position.
Thread Diameter The nominal diameter of the thread for the threaded hole through the clamp.
Thread Pitch The reciprocal of the number of threads per unit length.
Thread Form Classification of thread profile for the threaded hole.

Clamp Screw: A clamp screw is a cutter assembly component used to hold a clamp or insert onto a cutting tool body.
Attribute Name Description of Attribute
Clamp Screw Head Style Common style designation of the head of the clamp screw.
[Valid values: Differential Screw, Button Head]
Overall Length The length dimension over the entire Clamp Screw.
Thread Diameter The nominal diameter of the thread on the Clamp Screw.
Thread Pitch The reciprocal of the number of threads per unit length.
Thread Form Classification of thread profile on the Clamp Screw.
[Examples: UNC, UNF, UNEF, M, etc.]
Hex Size The size of the hex wrench required to turn the Clamp Screw. A hex drive slot exists on both ends of a Differential Clamp Screw and on the head of a Button Head Clamp Screw.
Thread Length (conditional) The length of the threaded portion of the Clamp Screw. Attribute only applies where
CLAMP_SCREW_HEAD_STYLE = BUTTON_HEAD.
Left Hand Thread Length (conditional) The length of the left-hand thread on the Clamp Screw. Attribute only applies where
CLAMP_SCREW_HEAD_STYLE = DIFFERENTIAL_SCREW.
Right Hand Thread Length (conditional) The length of the right-hand thread on the Clamp Screw. Attribute only applies where
CLAMP_SCREW_HEAD_STYLE = DIFFERENTIAL_SCREW.

Table IXC: Chipbreaker

Chipbreaker: A chipbreaker is a cutter assembly component used in conjunction with an insert to control chip formation.
Attribute Name Description of Attribute
Chipbreaker Shape Geometric description of the Chipbreaker shape or profile. [Examples: Triangle, Round, Square, Rectangle, Diamond]
Insert Size The inscribed circle of the insert to be used with the Chipbreaker. This value is used for sizing of the Chipbreaker.
Effective Width A length measurement which represents the difference in size between the Chipbreaker and the inscribed circle of the insert.
Chipbreaker Thickness The normal distance between two parallel planes representing the top and bottom faces of the Chipbreaker.

Shim Seat: A shim seat is a cutter assembly component used to modify the position of an insert on a cutting tool body.

Shim Seat Shape Geometric description of the Shim Seat shape or profile.
[Examples: Triangle, Round, Square, Rectangle, Diamond]
Shim Seat Thickness The normal distance between two parallel planes representing the top and bottom faces of the Shim Seat.
Shim Seat Size The inscribed circle of the Shim Seat.
Insert Size The inscribed circle of the insert to be used with the Shim Seat.
Rake Condition Description of the rake angle orientation of the Shim Seat. This value is used for proper matching of the Shim Seat with a holder.

Shim Screw: A shim screw is a cutter assembly component used to attach a shim seat onto a cutting tool body.

Wrench/Key: A wrench/key is a cutter assembly component used to tighten or loosen a screw of a particular size and possibly to tighten the screw to a particular torque.
Attribute Name Description of Attribute
Wrench/Key Style Common style designation for the Wrench/Key.
[Examples: Hex, Torx, Open End, etc.]
Wrench/Key Size Designation (optional) An alphanumeric designation for the size of the Wrench/Key. This value could be a hex size, nut size, or any number of manufacturer-specific size codes. Some Wrench/Key styles may not require a size designation.

Table IXH: Interchangeable Pilot

Interchangeable Pilot: An interchangeable pilot is a cutter assembly component used to guide/position a cutting tool.
Attribute Name Description of Attribute
Pilot Diameter The diameter of the "pilot" end of the interchangeable pilot used to guide the cutter into the workpiece. The required Pilot Diameter is determined by the size of the existing hole in the workpiece.
Pilot Shank Diameter The diameter of the shank on the interchangeable pilot. The required Pilot Shank Diameter is determined by the pilot hole size in the cutter to be used.
Pilot Length The overall length of the interchangeable pilot. Note that, in general, this attribute does not specify the length that the pilot will protrude from the cutter.

Table IXI: Coolant Collar

Coolant Collar: A coolant collar is a cutter assembly component used to provide through-the-tool coolant on machine tools incapable of providing through-the-spindle coolant.

Inner Diameter Diameter of the hole in the coolant collar for matching with the tool body diameter.
Outer Diameter Overall diameter size of the coolant collar body.
Collar Length The length of the coolant collar measured along the tool axis.
Tap Size (optional) Size of the tap for attaching the coolant hose to the collar. The tap is also referred to as a nipple.

Miscellaneous Cutter Assembly Component: A miscellaneous cutter assembly component is one which is not characterized by the predefined categories.
