Chipbreaker: A chipbreaker is a cutter assembly component used in conjunction with an insert to control chip formation.

Geometric description of the Chipbreaker shape or profile. [Examples: Triangle, Round, Square, Rectangle, Diamond]
Insert Size
The inscribed circle of the insert to be used with the Chipbreaker. This value is used for sizing of the Chipbreaker.
Effective Width
A length measurement which represents the difference in size between the Chipbreaker and the inscribed circle of the insert.
Chipbreaker Thickness
The normal distance between two parallel planes representing the top and bottom faces of the Chipbreaker.

Shim Seat: A shim seat is a cutter assembly component used to modify the position of an insert on a cutting tool body.

Interchangeable Pilot: An interchangeable pilot is a cutter assembly component used to guide/position a cutting tool.

Pilot Diameter
The diameter of the "pilot" end of the interchangeable pilot used to guide the cutter into the workpiece. The required Pilot Diameter is determined by the size of the existing hole in the workpiece.
Pilot Shank Diameter
The diameter of the shank on the interchangeable pilot. The required Pilot Shank Diameter is determined by the pilot hole size in the cutter to be used.
Pilot Length
The overall length of the interchangeable pilot. Note that, in general, this attribute does not specify the length that the pilot will protrude from the cutter.

Coolant Collar: A coolant collar is a cutter assembly component used to provide through-the-tool coolant on machine tools incapable of providing through-the-spindle coolant.
