Table VIII:
Arbor Drive Mount
Arbor Drive Mount: The arbor drive mount table characterizes the arbor mounting information for an arbor-driven tool. These characteristics are attributes of the cutting tool itself, not the arbor.
Attribute Name
Description of Attribute
Bore Diameter
The maximum diameter of the bore in the tool body into which the pilot of the arbor extends.
Bore Depth
The depth of the bore in the tool body into which the pilot of the arbor extends.
Bore Taper
The taper of the bore in the tool body. The bore taper may be zero on an arbor mounted tool.
Retaining Bolt Clearance Diameter (optional)
The clearance diameter available on the end of the tool body opposite the arbor for tool assembly components to fasten the tool body to the arbor. Typically this clearance provides access space for a retaining bolt head, threaded nut, or lock screw so that these components will not interfere with the cutting operation.
Drive Feature
An indication of how the tool body is driven by the arbor.
[Valid values: Keyway, Slot, Other]
Number of Keyways (conditional)
The number of keyways on the tool body for use as drive mechanisms.
Attribute only applies where ARBOR_DRIVE_MOUNT.DRIVE_FEATURE = KEYWAY.
Keyway Width (conditional)
Width of the keyway(s). If multiple keyways exist, the width of the keyways is typically the same value.
Attribute only applies where ARBOR_DRIVE_MOUNT.DRIVE_FEATURE = KEYWAY.
Keyway Depth (conditional)
Depth of the keyway(s). If multiple keyways exist, the depth of the keyways is typically the same value.
Attribute only applies where ARBOR_DRIVE_MOUNT.DRIVE_FEATURE = KEYWAY.
Slot Width (conditional)
Width of the slot on the tool body for use as a drive mechanism. A tenon on the arbor is inserted into the slot for driving the tool body.
Attribute only applies where ARBOR_DRIVE_MOUNT.DRIVE_FEATURE = SLOT.
Slot Depth (conditional)
Depth of the slot on the tool body for use as a drive mechanism. A tenon on the arbor is inserted into the slot for driving the tool body.
Attribute only applies where ARBOR_DRIVE_MOUNT.DRIVE_FEATURE = SLOT.
