CCI: Communities of Common Interest

A CCI is a global village of scientists and researchers from industry and academia working on any thematic area of the IMS Terms of Reference (ToR) and interacting together with information technology tools and face-to-face meetings whenever necessary. The CCI mission is to: create a long term relationship among partners of research projects already running and potential partners that goes beyond the life time of an IMS project or other international or national research projects.

A CCI is a global village of scientists and researchers from industry and academia working on any thematic area of the IMS Terms of Reference (ToR) and interacting together with information technology tools and face-to-face meetings whenever necessary.

CCI Goals

CCIs are intended to link regional and national ongoing research activities (existing research projects and networks) in a defined domain, and pull together these activities in a synergistic effort. The expected result is the creation of a long-term relationship among partners of research projects already running and potential partners that goes beyond the lifetime of an IMS project or other international or national projects. CCI missions are:

  1. to create synergies through exchange of knowledge
  2. to disseminate the results of ongoing research including that of IMS projects and
  3. to foster greater interaction among IMS and non-IMS actors.
    As a consequence:
  4. CCIs will create further awareness on the IMS scheme and
  5. facilitate the creation of IMS projects.
    But,
  6. CCIs will not engage in R&D activities themselves
