Release of full calibration data set, including tool wear data as well as force and temperature calibration data, solicitations for predictions of forces, temperatures, and wear for turning validation tests.

November 2000

A progress report was given at the beginning of a discussion panel session on AMM at the IMECE 2000 conference in Orlando, Florida.
The paper entitled "Assessment of Machining Models: A Progress Report" included in the Proceedings of the 3rd CIRP International Workshop on Modeling of Machining Operations was published in a special issue of the SME Machining Science and Technology journal along with selected other papers from the workshop.

August 2000

A presentation was given at the 3rd CIRP International 2000 Workshop on Modeling of Machining Operations in Sydney, Australia, and a paper entitled "Assessment of Machining Models: A Progress Report" was included in the workshop proceedings.

July 2000

Draft Paper submitted for CIRP2000 Workshop in Australia.

June 2000

Data received from Ford Motor Company for calibration and validation data sets.

May 2000

Progress report given during AMM seminar at NAMRC 2000 in Lexington, KY.
Calibration data set accelerated wear tests completed at NIST for uncoated inserts.
Validation data set experiments completed at NIST.

March 2000

Calibration data set experiments completed at NIST.

December 1999

Enhancements to intrinsic work-tool thermocouple system at NIST developed and implemented.

November 1999

Progress report given during AMM seminar at IMECE 1999 in Anaheim, CA.
Data received from Caterpillar for calibration data set.

October 1999

Data received from General Motors for calibration data set.

September 1999

First batch of tubes finished and shipped to AMM Labs
NSF Proposal awarded (Grant No. 9909130)
